Butler Law Firm –> Butler Kahn

“Butler Law Firm” has become “Butler Kahn” as Matthew R. Kahn, formerly an associate at the firm, has become a named partner.   The Atlanta-based firm handles wrongful death and serious personal injury cases.

“Same firm, same people, new name,” said Kahn.

Kahn joined the firm in 2019 as an associate soon about six months after the firm’s founding partner, Jeb Butler, parted ways with his former partner, Darren Tobin.  Since then, Butler said, Kahn has done exceptional work in the firm’s wrongful death and personal injury cases and has gravitated toward more-complex, higher-stakes litigation.

“He’s a good man, a good lawyer, and an asset to our clients,” said Butler of Kahn.  “I’m proud to have him as a partner.  Plus I’ve never liked being the only person in the firm’s name.  Folks wonder, ‘can that guy not get along with anyone?’  So I’m glad that problem is in the past.”

“When Jeb asked me to partner up, I was honored.  Jeb and the other lawyers and staff at our firm do incredible work for great people,” said Kahn.  “I’m proud to be a part of such an amazing team… and having my name on the door is pretty cool, too.”

Butler Kahn will continue its work as a top-tier personal injury attorney and wrongful death firm.  The firm will continue to focus on taking a select few cases and delivering top value on them.  Many of the firm’s cases come from referrals from other lawyers, Butler said, with whom the firm customarily shares a substantial percentage of its contingency fee.

Butler was asked about the possibility that the firm’s new name, Butler Kahn, could be confused with other entities or people.  “It’s true that people may confuse our initials with Burger King or mistake me for a historic central Asian warlord,” he said.  “But I don’t mind.  Burger King is a fine restaurant and Genghis, though he had many failings, was a strategic genius.”
