Georgia State Patrol Investigating Bartow County Head-On Car Accident That Hospitalized 7-Year-Old Boy

Car Accidents in Georgia

BARTOW COUNTY, GEORGIA (September 12, 2025) – A 7-year-old boy and three other people were injured in a Bartow County truck accident along Interstate 75 at Emerson-Allatoona Road.

Bartow County officials are saying that the accident took place around 4:30 p.m. on Monday. A car apparently hit a Toyota Camry traveling northbound on I-75.

The force of the impact caused the Camry to collide with a Chevy Suburban and sent both vehicles across the median. At some point the Suburban flipped and collided with a Chevy Silverado headed south.

A 7-year-old boy was ejected from the Silverado and injured in the process. He was airlifted to Scottish Rite Hospital. Three other people were also hospitalized as a result of the crash.

A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Bartow County Car Accidents

Drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care to avoid colliding with other vehicles. They must operate at a safe speed at all times. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 40-6-181, no person shall drive a vehicle in a residential district or highway at a speed greater than would be reasonable or safe given the prevailing road conditions. Several other factors may have contributed to a car accident.

  • Driver Distraction: A driver may be distracted by their phones or as they are reaching for objects that fell.
  • Inclement Weather: Car accidents are substantially more likely to occur during periods of inclement weather.
  • Vehicle System Failures: In some circumstances, component parts on a vehicle may fail, and this could cause a driver to lose control.

Car accidents are often highly complex events. The factors that contribute to any collision could take place days, hours, or weeks beforehand. There could be several liable parties for a particular accident. This is especially true if one driver was working at the time of a collision. As a general rule, employers can be vicariously liable for the negligent actions of their workers.

Investigating Bartow County Car Accidents

Car accidents remain one of the leading causes of injury and death in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “In 2022, almost 44,000 people died in motor vehicle crashes in the United States. That is more than 120 people killed in crashes every day.” It is important that certain steps are taken after any collision.

  • Police Investigation: The police should be called to the scene so that they can begin an investigation.
  • Eyewitnesses: The contact information of eyewitnesses should be collected. They can help establish what led up to a crash.
  • Road Conditions: The condition of the road where a crash took place should be documented through videos and photos.
  • Medical Records: All medical records related to an accident should be preserved. They will help establish the extent and severity of a victim’s injuries.

It can be difficult to know where to begin after any car accident. These incidents can leave victims with lasting injuries that impair their ability to work and simply live normal lives. Any person injured in a car accident may be able to seek some measure of justice through a civil claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
