Congratulations to Our 2024 Scholarship Winners!

Our law firm was thrilled with the talent, creativity, and dedication we saw from our 2024 scholarship award applicants. We received thoughtful entries from high school, college, and graduate students nationwide.

The attorneys of Butler Kahn asked students to provide a video responding to the following question:

“How do YOU want to make the world better?”

We appreciate every submission we received. But even though we would love to award a scholarship to every applicant, we had to choose only two winners. The funds they receive will go towards the costs of pursuing higher education.

We thank every student who submitted a video and wish everyone the best as they move forward.

Winner: Shawn Arthur

Shawn attends Texas State University and is set to graduate in April of 2025 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a Major in Accounting.  Shawn has devoted 100 hours to volunteering for the IRS VITA program, expertly preparing and filing over 75 business and personal tax returns with utmost attention to detail.

Runner-up: Kaitlyn Harrington

Kaitlyn Harrington is a first-year computer science student at Villanova University. She sings and tours with the Villanova Voices university women’s choir and competes for Villanova’s Taekwondo Team. She am also a member of the school’s Creative Writing Communitas program and Idea Lab.

Jeb Butler

Jeb Butler’s career as a Georgia trial lawyer has led to a $150 million verdict in a product liability case against Chrysler for a dangerous vehicle design that caused the death of a child, a $45 million settlement for a young man who permanently lost the ability to walk and talk, and numerous other verdicts and settlements, many of which are confidential at the defendant’s insistence. Jeb has worked on several cases that led to systemic changes and improvements in public safety. He has been repeatedly recognized as a Georgia SuperLawyer and ranks among Georgia’s legal elite. Jeb graduated in the top 10% of his class at UGA Law, argued on the National Moot Court team, and published in the Law Review.
