Pedestrian Injured in Villa Rica Semi-Truck Accident on Interstate 20

Georgia State Police Investigating Carroll County Pedestrian Accident With Semi-Truck That Occurred Under Heavy Fog

CARROLL COUNTY, GEORGIA (November 30, 2025) – A pedestrian was seriously injured in a Villa Rica semi-truck accident on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20.

Carroll County officials are saying that the accident took place on Saturday morning near Liberty Road. A pedestrian was walking along Interstate 20 when they were hit by the semi-truck.

There were quarterly heavy fog conditions at the time the accident occurred. Paramedics were called to the scene to help the victim.

That person was taken to Douglas Wellstar with visible injuries. A full investigation into the cause of the Villa Rica truck accident remains ongoing.

Liability for Carroll County Truck Accidents

Truck drivers must obtain a commercial license and are expected to operate their vehicles with a great deal of caution. Pursuant to GA Code § 40-6-180, “No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard for the actual and potential hazards then existing.” Semi-trucks can be uniquely dangerous to pedestrians for many different reasons.

  • Blind Spots: Trucks have large blind spots that can obscure the presence of smaller vehicles.
  • Stopping Distance: A fully loaded semi-truck traveling at freeway speeds can take the length of two football fields to come to a stop.
  • Weight: Semi-trucks can weigh as much as 80,000 pounds, thereby making even a low-speed collision potentially

If a truck driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with a pedestrian in the roadway, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. What matters is whether or not any particular accident is foreseeable. Truck drivers should typically travel lower than the speed limit during poor weather conditions. Among other things, if heavy fog or rain is obstructing a driver’s sight, traveling the speed limit could be considered quite dangerous.

Steps to Take After Carroll County Truck Accidents

Commercial trucks are involved in many serious injury and fatal collisions each year. According to the National Safety Council, “In 2023, 5,375 large trucks were involved in a fatal crash, an 8.4% decrease from 2022 but a 43% increase in the last 10 years. The involvement rate per 100 million large-truck miles traveled is down 8% from 2022, but up 22% in the last 10 years.” It is important that certain steps are taken after any pedestrian accident with a truck in Georgia.

  • Medical Evaluation: Victims should seek a thorough medical evaluation, even if they feel mostly all right after an accident. Truck accidents can leave victims filled with adrenaline that masks the presence of underlying injuries.
  • Treatment: Victims should continue following through with any treatment plans. If there are any gaps in treatment coverage, insurance providers may try to use this as evidence that you were never that injured in the first place.
  • Evidence Preservation: Victims should seek to preserve as much evidence as possible. This will include taking photos of the accident site and collecting contact information from eyewitnesses.
  • Legal Guidance: Victims should carefully consider all of their options with an experienced truck accident attorney. An attorney can let you know how much compensation you may be entitled to.

Truck accidents can be incredibly traumatic for injured parties. It is extremely common for survivors to be left with permanent physical impairments. Truck companies will virtually never accept responsibility if they hit a pedestrian in the roadway. This is why it is so important for any person affected by these collisions to consult with an experienced attorney. An attorney can recover damages to help with medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
