Causes of 18-Wheeler AccidentsBIBB COUNTY, GEORGIA (October 3, 2025) – Two people were injured in a Bibb County truck accident after a box truck crashed near the Interstate 475 North Ramp by the Eisenhower Parkway.

Bibb County officials are saying that the collision took place around 8:30 AM on Monday. For undetermined reasons, a box truck in sedan collided in the middle of the roadway.

Police and emergency responders were called to the scene to help the victims. Two people inside the sedan were injured and taken to the hospital.

One of the occupants was listed in critical condition, though their condition stabilized at the hospital. The driver of the box truck remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Liability for Bibb County Box Truck Accidents

Operating a truck is substantially more difficult than operating a passenger vehicle. These drivers must use an abundance of caution to avoid collisions. This necessitates that they drive at a safe speed at all times. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 40-6-180, “No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard for the actual and potential hazards then existing.” There are many steps that truck drivers should take to help avoid collisions.

  • Rest: Truck drivers should be well rested before heading out onto the road. They should also take periodic rest breaks over the course of a long day.
  • Maintenance: Truck drivers should make sure that their vehicles are well maintained and in working order.
  • Scanning: Truck drivers should continuously scan the road ahead of them and be mindful of traffic conditions.
  • Blind Spots: Truck drivers should check their blind spots before making any turns or lane changes.

If a truck driver acts negligently and causes a collision, their employer could be held at fault. Generally speaking, employers can be vicariously liable for the wrongful actions of their drivers who were operating within the course and scope of their job duties. Negligence is the failure to exercise the reasonable care necessary to avoid a collision. This can include instances where a truck driver was traveling too fast for the prevailing conditions or not keeping their eyes on the road.

Injuries Commonly Associated With Truck Accidents

A fully loaded commercial truck can weigh 80,000 pounds. Collisions with commercial trucks cause many serious injuries and deaths each year. According to the IIHS, “A total of 4,354 people died in large truck crashes in 2023. Sixteen percent of these deaths were truck occupants, 65% were occupants of cars and other passenger vehicles, and 17% were pedestrians, bicyclists or motorcyclists.” There are many injuries commonly associated with truck accidents.

  • Fractures: Sudden impacts can cause complex fractures. These are particularly common in a person’s wrists, arms, and legs.
  • Head Injuries: Many collisions involve drivers hitting their heads. This can lead to concussions and other more serious traumatic brain injuries.
  • Organ Damage: It is also common for people to sustain major injuries to their internal organs. These injuries may not be outwardly obvious, thereby highlighting the importance of medical evaluations after a collision.
  • Spinal Cord Injuries: Another serious injury that people can suffer is damage to their spinal cord. Any damage to the spine can result in partial or permanent paralysis.

For the most part, car accidents are preventable. They tend to involve some amount of human error. Insurance companies will often pressure victims into accepting unfavorable settlement terms after any collisions. It is important for accident victims to consider all of their legal options. An experienced Georgia truck accident attorney can help victims get all of the compensation that they are entitled to under the law.
