When a Commercial Truck Almost Runs You Off the Road
Reporting an Unsafe Truck Driver
Most trucking companies really do care about safety, and most truck drivers are skilled, cautious, safe drivers. When you see an exception — when you encounter a truck driver who isn’t driving safely, and who is putting other drivers at risk — take the time to report it.
Send a writeup of what happened and the truck’s license plate to the Safety Director of the trucking company. A responsible company will appreciate the warning, the driver can be evaluated to see whether he or she really needs to be behind the wheel of a big truck, and you just might save someone from becoming a victim. Maybe there will be one fewer lawsuit that has to be filed.
Here’s our letter along those lines. Nobody was hurt and there will never be a lawsuit arising out of this. We just hope the letter will make our roads just a little safer.
